Your average UK home uses around 3500 kWh of electricity costing them around £1100 a year. Below is a breakdown of what a Solar PV system is and how it can save you £100s on your yearly energy bills.
An Overview on Solar PV
Solar for Your Home
What are solar panels?
Solar panels are the most popular renewable energy source for UK homes and businesses. In the first half of 2023 alone, more than 120,000 renewable energy solutions were installed in the UK, around 80% of which were solar PV panels. (Source: MCS)
Solar panels work by turning energy from the Sun into DC electricity. Via an inverter, this is changed to AC electricity for you to use around your home. Therefore, the more light energy hits your panels, the more energy your system produces.

Are Solar Panels Worth it?
According to Money Saving Expert, installing solar panels can help you save £100s on your annual energy bill. Installing solar panels allows you to produce energy to power your home or charge your electric vehicle, saving you up to £400 in the South East, according to the latest figures from the Energy Savings Trust.
These savings could increase to £600+ for homes that sign up for the Smart Export Guarantee, enabling them to be paid for any excess energy they export to the grid. With solar panel systems having a life expectancy of upwards of 25 years you can see that the savings quickly add up.

Will a solar panel system work for me?
To determine this you should consider a few factors. Your roof space and its orientation and angle, the amount of sunlight your area gets and your current electricity usage will all affect how beneficial solar would be for you.
A South-facing roof with minimal shading or obstructions is the ideal situation for a solar panel system. But this doesn't mean that everyone else should avoid installing solar panels and/or a battery.

What is the Zion Energy experience like?
Zion Energy's aim is to Provide Excellent Service from Start to Finish.
All of our installations follow the same process and, so that you know what to expect, we have broken it down for you below. Our service is a simple 3-step process, Survey & proposal, Installation and aftercare.
The first step is a call or site visit with you! We want to work with you to design a system that fits your unique energy needs. During this time, we will answer all your questions so that you feel you can make an informed decision.
Following our discussion, we will design a range of proposals, each with detailed breakdowns, enabling you to compare the various options and see what works best for you.
These comprehensive proposals will provide details on system cost, payback period, monthly savings, income streams, all equipment supplied, warranties and much more.
Once you have had some time to review, we will contact you to talk through the options and put together a final proposal. At this point, if we haven't already, we will come and complete a site survey.
Once you choose to go ahead and we have the paperwork signed we can book an installation date.
Most installations take a day or two for the roofers and electrician to complete their work. So you will be benefiting from solar in no time at all. During the work, one of our installation managers will be on hand to answer any questions you have.
Once the work is completed, one of the engineers will explain to you how your system works and go through any relevant apps.

Solar panel and battery systems are what we call 'fit and forget'. This means that once they are installed there isn't much you need to do for them to perform just as intended. We will support you through the process of finding a great energy tariff to ensure you make the most of the system you have.
In the unlikely case that there are any issues, you can rest at ease knowing that we are here and happy to help.
